He was born in Zakynthos in the year 1957.
Holder of a Law Degree (BSc) from the Law School of the University of Athens, a degree in Public Law and Political Science (BSc) from the Law School of the University of Athens, a Master's Degree in Public Law & Political Science (MSc) from the Aristotle University (Thessaloniki) and a doctoral thesis (PhD), on the subject: "The subordination of public law disputes to arbitration" by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with a grade of "excellent". He speaks English, French and German.
Lawyer of Athens at the Supreme Court since 1985, and founding member and managing partner of the Law Firm "D. STRANIS and ASSOCIATES", with the objective of personal involvement cases in the areas of Labor Law and Labor Relations in the private and public sector, Administrative and generally in Public Law and Civil Law. He has supported a large number of cases for both the employee and the employer sides in both the substantive courts and the Supreme Court, the Council of State and the Court of Auditors. He is particularly committed to supporting cancellation cases. He has been a legal advisor to trade unions. He has supported cases related to Labor Relations and before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and has contributed to the formation of relevant case law (indicatively Smokovitis et al. vs Greece).
He has previously been appointed Arbitrator on the Board of Arbitrators of the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE).
First Degree Professor of the University of West Attica (UniWA). He teaches at the undergraduate and postgraduate level Labor Relations and Institutions and Labor Law for almost twenty years, Public Law and Administrative Science, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. He also teaches for twenty years the subject of Collective Bargaining "Conflict Management and Negotiations". He is the Director and Instructor of the Postgraduate Studies Program, in the subject of "Public Administration and Public Management" and has taught in several other Postgraduate Programs. He has also taught for a number of years at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), the Hellenic Open University (H.O.U.) and other educational institutions. He has been the Director of the Department and the Director of the Research Laboratory, for a number of years.
He has written and researched work, consisting of studies and monographs. He has prepared a monograph and studies in the field of Labor Law and Labor Relations. He also has a special research and writing activity, among others, with the forms of Conciliation Settlement and Arbitration and has prepared his doctoral thesis in the field of Arbitration and other related research and writing work.
He has participated as a speaker and chairman of many scientific conferences and workshops, where he has also lectured on specific issues related to Mediation and Arbitration.
He has authored teaching aids and organized the curriculum of many undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Mediation and Arbitration and Labor Law and Labor Relations.
Supervises the elaboration of doctoral thesis. He has participated in various research projects, domestic and European, including the European PETRA program, to strengthen the regulation of youth work mobility.
He is a member of the administration of various scientific associations, with the subject of Labor Law and Labor Relations and Public Law and Administrative Science and also a member of scientific committees of reputable scientific journals.
